Chandragiri Hill is just 14 km from central Kathmandu and easily accessible by private vehicle. On a private tour, you’ll be picked up directly from your hotel and driven to the base of Chandragiri Hill in about 40-50 minutes. While it’s possible to drive partway up, the road beyond Matatirtha is rough and unpaved, often causing delays. To ensure a smooth journey, most travelers opt for the cable car.
Your private tour includes a scenic cable car ride from the base station (1,500m altitude) to the summit (2,551m). The 2.5 km ride takes around 15 minutes and offers stunning views along the way. With over 30 Gondolas (cable cars) in operation, each holding up to 8 passengers, the system runs efficiently though. After arriving at the top station, a short 5-10 minute walk leads to the temple area and main viewpoint, where breathtaking Himalayan vistas await.
