Larke Peak Climbing Overview

Larke Peak Climbing: Larke Peak is situated in the Manaslu Conservation Area of Nepal, in the Gorkha district. It is part of the larger Manaslu Himalayan range. Larke Peak stands at an elevation of 6,248 meters (20,498 feet). The Larke Peak Climbing (6,249m/20,502ft) is specially design for enthusiastic and energetic trekkers. As it lies in Manaslu region, it has its own natural jaw-dropping beauty. Manaslu region has been able to preserve its uniqueness beauty because few number of trekkers has accessed to this region. Since it is a restricted area, a government licensed guide and trekking permits are mandatory.

Larke Peak Climbing

Your Larke Peak Climbing adventure typically begins in Arughat, a bustling town located in Gorkha district. This is the starting point of the trek and the gateway to the Manaslu region. From Arughat, you’ll trek along the Budi Gandaki River, passing through picturesque villages and terraced fields. After a few days of trekking, you’ll reach Soti Khola, a small village where you can rest and soak in the natural beauty.

Continuing the trek, you’ll reach Machha Khola, another charming village situated on the banks of the Budi Gandaki River. The village offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and provides an insight into the local way of life. As you ascend further, you’ll reach the village of Jagat. This village is known for its traditional houses and stone-carved entrance arches. It also marks the entrance to the restricted area of Manaslu, where a special permit is required.

From Jagat, the trail gradually winds its way up to Deng, a small village nestled amidst the mountains. Here, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful landscapes and have the opportunity to interact with the friendly locals. As you continue higher, you’ll reach Namrung, a village that offers stunning views of the Ganesh Himal range. Namrung is also known for its colorful prayer flags and traditional Buddhist monasteries.

After passing through several picturesque villages and dense forests, you’ll arrive at Samagaun, a Sherpa village situated at the foot of Manaslu. This village provides a glimpse into the Sherpa culture and offers magnificent views of Manaslu and its neighboring peaks. From Samagaun, you’ll make your way to Larkya Base Camp. This is the starting point for the Larke Peak Climbing ascent and serves as a hub for climbers preparing for the summit bid.

The ultimate destination of your climb is the summit of Larke Peak Climbing itself. From the base camp, you’ll make your way through different high-altitude camps, tackling challenging terrain until you reach the summit. Standing atop Larkya Peak, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

​Larke peak Climbing was opened in 2002 by the Nepal government for the climbers. The journey to Larkya peak is a delightful adventure where local Tibetan origin-Buddhist people welcomes travelers with their culture. During the Larke peak climbing, a scenic view of Manaslu (8156 meter), Himalchuli (7893 meter), Shring Himal (7177 meter), Buddha Himal (7422 meter) Ganesh Himal (7422 meter) will fascinate travelers. The climbing is moderate difficult and requires full equipment techniques with professional guide but the view from top of the Larkya Peak will make you forget all the difficulties of the trek.

Biodiversity:

The Larke Peak climbing region, located within the Manaslu Conservation Area, is known for its rich biodiversity. The area is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including several endangered species. As you trek and climb in the region, you’ll come across lush forests, alpine meadows, and beautiful wildlife, such as musk deer, Himalayan tahr, and various bird species.

Cultural Experience:

Larke Peak Climbing provides a wonderful cultural experience as you pass through remote villages inhabited by different ethnic communities. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with the local people, including Gurung, Tamang, and Sherpa communities, and experience their unique cultures, traditions, and hospitality. You can visit Buddhist monasteries, witness traditional ceremonies, and gain insights into their way of life.

Accommodation:

During the trek and climb, you’ll stay in teahouses or lodges along the route. These accommodations provide basic facilities such as rooms with beds, blankets, and communal dining areas. Please note that the infrastructure and facilities may be more basic and limited in the higher-altitude regions. Camping is usually required at the Larkya Peak Base Camp.

Climbing Season:

The recommended climbing seasons for Larkya Peak are spring (April to May) and autumn (September to November). During these seasons, the weather is generally stable, with clear skies and favorable climbing conditions. The temperature is moderate, and the views are stunning. Winter climbing is possible but brings colder temperatures, harsher weather, and more challenging conditions.

Difficulty Level:

Larkya Peak Climbing is considered a technically challenging climb. It requires prior mountaineering experience and basic knowledge of climbing techniques. The ascent involves steep snow slopes, icy sections, and exposed ridges. The altitude also adds to the difficulty. Adequate physical fitness, stamina, and mental preparedness are essential for a successful climb.

Safety:

Safety is a top priority during Larkya Peak Climbing. It is highly recommended to climb with experienced guides or Sherpas who are knowledgeable about the region, weather conditions, and safety protocols. Permits:

Larke Peak Climbing requires Climbing Permits. Additionally You will need a Manaslu Conservation Area Permit(MCAP), Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) you will pass by Annapurna conservation zone to get back to Kathmandu after your adventure. Those Permits will be issued by the Government of Nepal, however the Trekking Agency who organizing your climbing will arrange all the necessary documents and permits. These permits can be obtained through a registered trekking agency in Nepal. It’s important to comply with the permit regulations and carry the necessary documents during the climb. Good Climbing Gears that will be arrange by the company your self good Personal Equipment are highly recommend

  • Beginning two nights stay on arrival in Kathmandu in a tourist standard hotel with breakfast included (twin share basis)
  • Kathmandu to Soti khola (trekking starting point) transfer by Bus, and way back from Soti khola to Kathmandu
  • All necessary trekking and restricted area permit & fees, (Entry Permit, Manaslu conservation area permit, Manaslu Restricted area special permit and Larke peak permits).
  •  Three meals a day during the trek

  • An experienced, English-speaking, government-licensed, first aid-trained special trekking and Climbing guide and assistant guide (5 trekkers: 1 assistant guide)
