The 4-day Poon Hill Trek is a short and popular trek in Nepal. It’s a great option if you don’t have much time but still want to Embark an unforgettable journey through the misty hills of Nepal, especially the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. This trek is slightly off the main Annapurna Base Camp route and takes you through the green forests and hills of the Annapurna Conservation Area. You’ll see rivers, waterfalls, local villages, and walk through forests full of rhododendron trees.
You can do this trek in any season. But if you go in late December or January, there may be snow on the trail, and it can get very cold, which makes the trek a bit harder.It’s perfect for people who want a short but beautiful trek in the mountains. The views of the snow-covered peaks will stay with you forever. During the trek, you’ll walk through rice fields and climb a tough 3,300 steps up to Ulleri village. It’s challenging, but the scenery makes it worth it. There are different versions of the Poon Hill Trek some people do it in 2days, 3days and 5days, depending on time and pace.
This version is the 4-day poonhill sunrise trek starts from Hille, a small village about an 2hour’s drive from Pokhara. From there, you’ll walk for two days and reach Ghorepani, a peaceful mountain village. Early the next morning, you’ll hike up to Poon Hill to watch the sunrise over the Himalayas. It’s one of the best parts of the trek you’ll see amazing views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and many other snowy peaks. By the end of this short trek, you’ll have great memories and a beautiful story to share.
Itinerary for 4 Days Poonhill sunrise Trek
Day 01: Drive form Pokhara to Hille (2.5 hours) and trek to Ulleri Approximately 2.5 hours trek..
Pickup form your hotel by a private jeep and drive to Hille which is 2 hours drive. Your trek will start from Hille to Ulleri, it will be an easy day, climb a bit uphill through a forest into a village, passing by the green farmland and river.
Day 02: Trek to Ghorepani (2,810 meters) approximately 4.5 hours trek..
From Ulleri, you will trek to the famous Ghorepani village. The trail traverses through the dense forests of Rhododendron, Oak, Pine, and more. We will trek past Nangethanti on the way. Likewise, the mountain views are phenomenal along the way. Ghorepani is a Gurung and Magar village. From here, we can see stunning views of mountains like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, Fishtail, etc.


Day 03: Early morning sunrise viewing trek to Poon Hill (3,210 meters), then trek to Tadapani (2,700 meters) Approximately 6 hours trek..
Early morning climb to the top of Poon Hill to catch the stunning sunrise over array of Himalayan peaks from world 7th highest Dhaulagiri-10th highest Annapurna with range of peaks including world 8th highest Manaslu with majestic Machhapuchare peak “Fish Tail”. After enjoying exciting moment head back to Ghorepani and continues trek with uphill and downhill through cool forest then reaching at Tadapani for overnight stop.
Day 04: Trek to Ghandruk (1,940 meters), then drive to Pokhara. Approximately 4 hours trek and 2.5 hours drive..
From this peaceful village, walk downhill into cool forest of rhododendron and pines trees to reach on top of Ghandruk villages, on reaching Ghandruk a Gurung village famous as Gorkha soldiers in foreign countries UK-India and Singapore enlisted as soldiers, besides army services are traditional farmers and cattle herders of Buddhist / Bon religion and culture. Ghandruk one of the largest villages around Annapurna area here in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge after a good day walks of few hours. We will stop Ghandruk for Lunch, then drive back to Pokhara.
